Job Description

We are looking for up to 600 enthusiastic and motivated people to join our teams in Devonport and surrounding areas in Tasmania during our Berry harvest season. The full season is November through to the end of May (weather dependant, may vary one month either side of these dates). This includes working over the Christmas and New Year period. Work will involve picking and packing blueberries, raspberries, strawberries and blackberries along with some general crop and farm labour and logistics support. Full training provided, experience not required for general picking, packing and labour roles (level 1 roles). Higher level roles are also available including and tractor/truck/forklift operators which require a licence suited to the equipment being operated. Supervisor or assistant supervisor roles require at least 3 months experience on a Costa Berry farm. Depending upon the weather work will be 5+ hours per day Monday to Sunday with a rotating rostered crew day off and at least an average of 30 hours per week. Work health and safety managed as a priority onsite with qualified and experienced first aiders available at all times. Workers interested in further skill development or progression within the business are encouraged to speak with the Supervisor regarding opportunities such as obtaining a forklift or truck licence, first aid training, or leadership development to progress to supervisory roles. Progression opportunities will be assessed on an individual basis taking into account the needs of the business and will require experience on farm and a good performance and attendance record. Pay and conditions will be in accordance with the Costa (Berry Category) Enterprise Agreement 2019 - 2023. The positions are casual. Most picking roles are paid under a piecework agreement, other roles including packing are paid on an hourly rate. Picking, packing and general runner/labour roles are paid at classification Level 1. Tractor, truck and forklift operators are paid at level 2 and 3. Assistant Supervisor and Supervisor roles start at L2, increasing in accordance with experience and team size up to L5. Current L1 minimum hourly rate is $22.61 + 25% casual loading. Current L2 minimum hourly rate is $23.23 + 25% casual loading. Current L3 minimum hourly rate is $23.87 + 25% casual loading. Current L4 minimum hourly rate is $24.73 + 25% casual loading. Current L5 minimum hourly rate is $26.18 + 25% casual loading. To Be Successful In These Role You Will Have the ability to undertake strenuous work activities for extended periods of time, including in adverse weather conditions Be willing and able to work the abovementioned rostered shifts and hours Good fine and gross motor skills Willing and able to complete picking and general crop work and farm duties Be a strong team player with a positive attitude Commit to work until the end of the season Have excellent attention to detail and be self-motivated Have your own reliable transport to and from the sites For driver roles only: Hold a current valid truck/tractor/forklift licence suited to the equipment (e.g. C / LR / MR / Forklift licence) For supervisory roles only: Have a minimum of 3 months experience on Costa Berry farm If you are interested in joining us, please click Apply Now, you will need a copy of your passport or Australian birth certificate with photo ID.
