Job Description

10+ years of game development experience, 5+ years of production department leadership Shipped one or more AAA title(s) with a Lead or Director credit Passion for cultivating healthy teams who are creatively empowered Highly organized, detail oriented, self-directed, and capable of instilling that characteristic in others Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills Strong time management skills with the ability to engage across all disciplines, assess risk, define priorities, and resolve a wide array of problems Ability to multi-task and handle many discrete, highly varied tasks at once without losing focus on any individual items and without missing a stride Deep knowledge of game development – team dynamics, common development hurdles, game engines and technology, development milestone definitions, production process and methodology, outsourcing and co-development, scheduling, etc An experienced driver of accountability and improvement within organizations of a comparable scale and complexity A cool-headed, diplomatic leader able to maintain critical confidentiality and to have crucial, and at times sensitive, conversations Excellent communicator and team player -- here at Gearbox we thrive on collaboration and working together to meet our project design goals A proven ability to express your ideas and vision through presentations, diagrams, and documentation in an inspirational and exciting fashion Be able to relocate to Austin, Texas area to join the Gearbox team Build a high functioning production department from the ground up, set it up for continued success Work your peers in other departments to assemble, lead, and motivate a large team consisting of all aspects of game development; this person sets the example as a leader Help create and maintain a positive culture across the Gearbox Family team and promote a healthy work/life balance Establish and evangelize studio and team best practices and process, with a focus on creating a healthy and inclusive team culture Lead the effort to create and maintain the production plan for a large scale, AAA, game Validate project plans for project teams, including scope, schedule, dependencies, risks, and risk mitigation plans Coordinate dependencies with supporting organizations across the company Keep the project team informed on development results, schedule, and changes Report project status to company stakeholders at regular intervals and escalate urgent issues in a timely manner Coordinate with and partner with business operations departments such as Finance, Central Technology, Core QA, Recruiting, HR, Facilities, and IT Set goals and priorities that help teams focus on the critical few: filters issues based on a clear understanding of project strategies and objectives Solve problems of all types as they arise, balance priorities, and find creative and efficient solutions that achieve results Motivate, mentor, supervise and support team of producers with clear and consistent direction Not afraid to roll up your sleeves and be hands-on with production plaining and team process, where needed
